Dear Walker Methodist family,

This week, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz extended his Stay-At-Home order to May 4, which means that all Walker Methodist communities will need to continue with the restrictions already in place at least until that date.

We know that this time of separation and isolation is stressful for everyone, and please know that our teams are working hard to continue to have daily interactions with each resident. We hope that you are following our Facebook page, where we are sharing, more than ever before, the joy that is still happening within our walls.

When we turn on the television or scroll through social media feeds, we are hit with so much negative news. But in the midst of troubling times, Walker Methodist is seeing and experiencing so much good. Companies and neighbors have stepped up to help us: a company that manufactures loudspeakers made enough face shields for all our employees, friends have donated homemade masks, distilleries and soap makers have made us hand sanitizers, children have made cards for residents, and neighbors have donated flowers, games, puzzles, books, and so much more. We are overwhelmed by the blessings from so many who care for us and our residents.

Within a month, our day-to-day world has been turned upside down, and our team has been incredibly flexible and resourceful. Though adapting is challenging, I’m proud of how team members have risen to meet the challenge.

One unique challenge that we’ve encountered is that many doctors and other providers have chosen not to enter our communities, which makes delivering health care within our walls a challenge. But, as with each challenge we’ve encountered during this time, we’ve found innovative solutions to meet the changing needs. Our technology team has been hard at work setting up telehealth stations at each location, which will allow residents to visit with their provider if needed.

If you would like to thank or encourage one of our team members, I invite you to go to www.walkermethodist.org/wellwishes. We are sharing your words with the team, and they have told me how meaningful your support is to them. If you feel inclined, you are also encouraged to consider making a donation on the same page. Money collected will be used to help team members impacted in unique ways because of the pandemic.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Together we will overcome.

Scott Riddle,
President and CEO, Walker Methodist
