Dear residents and families of Walker Methodist,
This past weekend, we honored our fallen heroes, who paid the ultimate price for our country. We celebrate the freedoms that their sacrifices have awarded us. We are humbled and grateful.
But celebrating freedom felt strange this year, knowing that in our own communities, freedoms that residents and families once enjoyed have been extremely restricted. While this is protecting the most vulnerable from a virus, we know that it has left many feeling isolated and lonely. There are no easy answers. And although we are bound to obey the rules that govern senior living communities, Walker Methodist is still examining every possible solution and weighing it against the regulations given to us by Centers for Disease Control, Minnesota Department of Health, and others.
Status update
I am overjoyed with the news that the Health Center (Minneapolis) has no residents with active cases of COVID-19! This incredible team contained the virus from spreading beyond one unit, and given the pervasive nature of this virus, that is no easy feat. Here are the stats regarding Walker communities with active resident cases:
- Havenwood of Minnetonka: 1 active case. 0 deaths. 0 recoveries.
- Plaza (Anoka): 4 active case. 1 death. 2 recoveries.
- Westwood Ridge (West St. Paul): 1 active case. 0 deaths. 1 recovery.
To put this in context:
- We serve approximately 1,500 residents, and only 6 have this virus today. That is less than half a percent.
- Walker Methodist is made up of 19 communities, and 16 have no residents with COVID-19.
These stats are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team members throughout the entire organization. We know that we have a long battle ahead of us, and we continue to be diligent in the fight. Thank you for your trust in our teams. Together we will overcome
